About Us
Empowering. Transforming. Strengthening Lives.
New Hope Health Services is a community-based behavioral health agency in Washington, DC, providing mental health and substance use care for children, adolescents, adults and families.

About the Agency
Care that treats the whole person, not just a diagnosis.
We were founded to close a gap that families in the District know well: care that is hard to reach, hard to afford, and hard to stay connected to. New Hope brings assessment, therapy, medication management and community support under one roof, so a person never has to rebuild their story for a new agency at every step.
Compassion
Every person who walks through our door is met with dignity and warmth.
Integrity
Honest clinical guidance, clear costs, and confidential care.
Community
We serve the neighborhoods we belong to, in the language families speak.
Excellence
Evidence-based practice delivered by licensed, supervised clinicians.
Our Mission
To provide accessible, compassionate and culturally responsive behavioral health services that empower individuals and families in Washington, DC to heal, grow and live with dignity.
Our Vision
A District where every person, regardless of income, insurance or background, can find timely mental health care and a community that believes in their recovery.

Our Founder
Luc H. Yaya, Ph.D.
Dr. Yaya founded New Hope Health Services to bring trauma-focused, individualized care to families in Southeast Washington who are too often asked to wait. With a background in clinical practice, program leadership and community mental health, he built the agency around a simple belief: people improve fastest when they are treated as whole people, in their own community, by clinicians who stay with them.
He continues to lead clinical direction at New Hope, supervising a team of licensed therapists, prescribers and community support workers.
Our Specialization
Trauma-Focused, Individualized Care
Much of what looks like behavior is really an unhealed injury. Our clinicians are trained to recognize trauma, stabilize safety first, and build treatment around the person's own goals.
Trauma-Informed Practice
Care that recognizes how trauma shapes behavior, health and trust.
Individualized Plans
No two treatment plans look the same, because no two lives do.
Family Engagement
Caregivers are partners in the plan whenever the client wants them there.
Culturally Responsive
Clinicians who reflect and respect the communities we serve.
